This Cosy Life- Hi, Andrea, and welcome to Meltdown Monday! Tell us a little about yourself so we can know the person behind the work.

Andrea-I am a mother of three having decided to stay at home with the kids when our family moved to Kenya 4 years ago. Crafting and creating has always been a part of my life, and I learned to master my mother’s sewing machine at an early age. When I started university the crafting fell alongside as I had a busy schedule as a student athlete. The early professional career also left little time, and it was not again till I became a mother when I found my outlet again in crafting and creating.

This Cosy Life- What inspires your creations?

Andrea- 3 wonderful kids, 10 years of living in vibrant and colourful Africa, combined with my involvement in my children’s Waldorf school has given me great inspiration for creating a playful fairytale world for the little ones.
The creations for the children have taken on their own life and I recently opened an Etsy shop, where you can find the kid tested and approved creations.

This Cosy Life- How do you balance 'making' with mothering?

Andrea-It is a busy house like any other would be with three children under the age of 8. Once I get all three to school and kindergarten in the morning, I take my 2 to 3 hours “me” time and retreat into my sewing room surrounded by fabric, thread, needles, scissors, buttons, and all kinds of other crafty materials and the creative side has a chance to come out. Reality hits at 12.30, when the first part of the group of three is ready to return home and I switch hats.

This Cosy Life- Thank you so much for joining us for Meltdown Monday!

Andrea-It has been a pleasure to be part of this and I look forward to making more wonderful connections with other creative minds.

Andrea is offering one kid's apron made from kikoy fabric (the red and purple features above).

The apron is made from a typical Kenyan cotton kikoy fabric. Traditionally a fabric wrap worn by males, but now more commonly used by both sexes.
This apron is perfect for children to use in their play kitchen, or use it to assist a parent in the big kitchen.
The medium size apron will fit most children between 4 and 8 years old.
It is similar to the ones that you can find in her shop.

OK, so to enter leave me a comment. You can let me know how your Monday is going or, better yet, tell me how you beat the dreadful Meltdown Monday or just say hi. Whatever.

Hello! Beautiful aprons!
I am a Waldorf mom from Norway, and I love to experiment with textiles, yarns and other fun stuff.
We are tired form yesterday, my son had a violin class, but also we waked up more loving somehow. The apron is gorgeous and makes me want to touch that fabric to feel it.
Very sweet apron designs!

My Monday is good so far, little Hermie on my lap and chilly fall weather ahead.
Sweet apron, we definitely need one for little Cami!
this is so lovely, I lived in Kenya for a while too and it is so stunning. We'd love to win this :-)
Beautiful work, Andrea! I am battling the gray Monday doldrums with coffee and my laptop and some blog-surfing. :) I hope I win!
Beautiful! Thanks for the chance to win. I donned my own apron this morning and loaded up my dehydrator with apples; the smell is a bit of a boost on this dreary grey Monday.

My Monday was fabulous. I actually spent it cooking with my little one, who would love to have an apron like I wear.

and truth be told, i think my favorite item is the blue apron. Birthday crowns are also on my list of to - make.. so really like those as well. thanks for the chance.
Mondays in our house usually go very quickly for some reason. This was no different: coffee, drop husband off at work since car is in shop, homeschooling, coffee, lunch, homeschooling, dental visit, knitting, dinner...sleep! The aprons are lovely. We love stripes!
WE love Andrea's stuff - all looks so lovely! Love the kikoy aprons - I would definitely wear that in my kitchen!

I just found your lovely blog from a link on Frontier Dreams. :) I look forward to reading more as my granddaughter lets me lol. Mondays are made much better {heck any day is!} with the addition of my granddaughter, who would also love this apron to use with her kitchen. :) Thanks for the giveaway! cokelush at gmail

Monday is library day for us. We hop on the bus to the library, spend an hour or two there. Stock up on new books for the week. On the way back to the bus we often stop by the open air market and get what we need for dinner. The kids love Monday and so does mama.
I also had a look at Andrea's shop and I really like her fairy wings. But the aprons are my favorite, that fabric is just so beautiful.
