Celia

Her name is Celia. She is a very sweet girl... shy but curious. She loves books! Especially animal stories.
<span class=
She's an only child but never finds herself lonely, as she's surrounded by many dolly friends and teddies. And, of course, there's all the wonderfully fascinating characters she meets in her books.
<span class=
She and her toys spend many an afternoon with a picnic of tea and cake or maybe lemon cookies out on the lawn. But if it's raining you'll never fail to find them all snuggled up inside as Cilly reads them story after story. She keeps them pretty captivated as she does all the voices!
<span class=
Celia was supposed to be a completely different doll. I had this doll all planned out in my head (and will get to her so I'll keep mum for now) and kept trying to fit Celia into this mold... but she had other plans. Really I should have had her finished days and days ago but stubborn me just kept trying to make her something she's not. I really couldn't get on with her at all until I totally gave up the idea of her being this doll and took the time to find out who she was. And honestly it was plain as day and I knew it right away. Stubborn!
<span class=
As it turns out Celia is a very soft and dreamy girl. Favoring roses and pastels, taking the time to day dream and tend to her babies.
<span class=
It sounds silly, doesn't it? A doll with a personality and 'mind' of her own. Perhaps.... but when you think of the energy, not just physical, but all of your energies, and the love that goes into making something handmade, you can kind of begin to see how such a thing begins to take on a life of it's own. How it can have it's own story and name.
<span class=
I'm really in love with little Celia! We all are, though, I do think River is most taken with Celia's little dolly.

You are truly amazing, Julie! Some day (probably long after my kids are grown) I'll find a way to afford a Waldorf doll. They are just so beautiful! Excellent job bringing her to life. (:

Thank you, Melissa! You should just make a doll for yourself. i want to keep this one so much but we need the money. One day I will set aside the time and materials to make one just for me. :)

Oh, thank you, nicole! I've missed writing here, too. Summer just has a way of draining me. As a matter of fact, these dolls are the only thing i've got inspiration for at the moment. Can't wait for the cooler weather!

Oh Julie! Celia is one of the most beautiful Waldorf dolls I have ever seen! If my daughters were younger I would have had to buy her. She is just beautiful!

Have a wonderful weekend.

She is beautiful. I am in the process of making a Waldorf doll for my son and having some difficulties. I have only gotten his head formed. Nervous to move forward. Any suggestions would be great. Thanks

Hi Kristy,
So sorry, just now seeing this comment. I think for me the top things for a nice doll are to stuff it *very* firmly. Use a knitting needle or something to pack it in there and keep smoothing it out as you go. Also, I think it's important to keep the face super simple and just take your time with it. And taking your time is the most important thing for me. Don't get in a hurry stitching it together, just go one stitch at a time. You can really make it nice and neat and avoid messy seams and wrinkly necks this way.

You may already have the doll finished by now but i hope this helps and feel free to email me with specific questions.

Good luck!!
Julie
