Our homeschool is in full swing right now and we are enjoying returning to a more steady rhythm. This year I'm loosely going by Donna Simmons' first grade curriculum.

A wise old owl sat on an oak,
The more he heard, the less he spoke,
The less he spoke, the more he heard,
Why aren't we all like that wise bird?

Our school/dining space is all set up and the girls enjoy it so much.

The little ones work on modeling with beeswax, sorting jars, and other activities while Kaiya and I work on her lessons.

Our first handwork was to make felt cases for our recorders. I cut them out but she sewed hers by herself and put on her first button!

Bean bags... Kaiya sewed half and I made the others. Photobucket
Their favorite time of the day is handwork. Really, they're my daughters.. would you expect any less?! Zoe quickly picked up finger knitting while Kaiya and I sewed and then began working with wool I sheared from our sheep. Of course, I've had to sell them since we moved, but I'm so grateful to have these bags of wool left to remember them by. Kaiya cleaned and carded a little bit of it and will use it to stuff a little pillow. This week we will make her own set of knitting needles and then began to knit! I think you all know this mama is looking forward to it.

At the end of this week I will start up the Waldorf homeschooling link up again. Hope you all will join in. Have a great week!

Beautiful ideas! I need to learn finger knitting and teach my daughter! We use lucets for now. We also make wholewheat rolls (the dough is rising right now!) every few days. We run out so quickly I really need to make a few batches at a time like you do!
Lovely photos. You've given me some ideas of things to do with my kindergarten girl who is nearly four, when I do desk work with her grade three brother.

Thanks for sharing. Will try and pop by on Friday for the link up

handwork is a favorite around here as well.
What a beautiful school space you have. My daughter just started kinder at a waldorf charter school and is having a great time. I love the handwork that she is doing too. I knit, spin and sew but she gets frustrated learning from me sometimes. I'm so thrilled she gets to go to a school where it's taught!
So adorable! I wish I could knit. Everyone in my family seems to know how to easily make beautiful things and I just don't get it! I can do the basics and maybe make a dishcloth but to follow a pattern would send me in a tizzy. I hope to get my gals doing handwork here soon. Great blog and love your school!

I love seeing what your up to with your home schooling, lots of fun and meaningful work
what a joy to see your girls love handwork - I am hoping that my girls will love it when they are old enough for now miss 3 enjoys making twisties from wool. Can I ask what age you would recommend introducing finger knitting?
