Meltdown Monday Giveaway

Comments on this giveaway are now closed.

Another Monday, another giveaway! How's yours so far? No melting down too badly, I hope.
This week's giveaway comes from the very talented, Melissa, who sells her handknit goodness here and blogs over at Wild Faerie Caps. Her wool soaker shorties and longies are so darling and, speaking as a cloth diaper mama who uses wool, a really great design. She also makes sweet and simple Waldorf inspired toys; dolls, gnome and playmats. Let's get to know a little more about Melissa, shall we?!

This Cosy Life- Hi, Melissa, and welcome to Meltdown Monday! Tell us a little about yourself so we can know the person behind the work.

Melissa- I am a mother to three wild, homeschooled boys. When I'm not chasing kids, I fill my time with crafting and books. Very ocassionaly I tackle the mountain of laundry that lives in our hamper.

This Cosy Life- What do you create and what are your favorite materials?

Melissa- Once upon a time I was a bookbinder. After that became work rather than play, I tried my hand at sewing plushies for my kids and needle felting. In the past year or so I discovered knitting and haven't looked back. My favorite materials are natural ones: wool, cotton, bamboo.

This Cosy Life- What inspires your creations?

Melissa- Honestly, I am greatly inspired by all of the amazing blogging women out there. I learned to knit out of necessity. I wanted longies for my babies and couldn't afford to buy them. Since learning the very basics I am constantly inspired by the creations I see all over the internet. And of course, my kids inspire me daily. And if not inspire, they definitely egg me on!

This Cosy Life- How do you balance 'making' with mothering?

Melissa- Oh goodness. I don't? I sneak in as much "making" time as I can. While the kids are quietly playing, while they're still asleep in the morning, while I'm eating my lunch! With two kids under the age of three, my "making" time usually takes a back seat. This fall my oldest son and I are going to tackle the concept of handwork during his homeschool lessons. With that and the growing independence of my other two, I hope to fit in more ways to let my creativity out.

This Cosy Life- Thank you so much for for joining us for Meltdown Monday!

Melissa- Thanks for having me, it's an honor to be a small part of your wonderful blog.

Today, Melissa is giving away this sweet little she made to one lucky reader.

inches tall, made with superwash wool and a silk/cotton/wool
and is stuffed with bamboo filling.

Heehee...I love to be the first to comment! We had a wicked thunderstorm all night...ALL night...like being awakened by a fractious baby all night (but way scarier)...so I started Monday by filling pots and kettles in case the power goes out again (the pump for our well doesn't work when the power's out!)...off to the beach for swimming lessons where I'll be turning 7 pairs of little doll arms right-side-out in prep for a craft sale this weekend...busy start to the week! My hair is kinda like this little knitted gal's hair...wild and woolly (though not electric blue)...love her!
Ooh! What a darling little doll! I'm beating Meltdown Mondays by taking things easy and sitting in front of the fan... ESPECIALLY when I nurse my baby! Ooof, we are both very hot, and I am fighting mastitis (and the accompanying fever) in 90+ degrees of heat and high humidity. There are thunderstorms predicted, and I'm looking forward to them. They make me feel cosy, and I find the sounds and smells very soothing. I have a good book, the house is already clean and laundry folded, I have a fresh pot of coffee and a large glass of ice water, and my daughter is currently taking a nap. This has all the hallmarks of a wonderful Monday -- and THEN I get the bonus of being "introduced" to Wild Faerie Caps. Thank you for that!! I love her unbridled whimsy.

Melt down Monday... I just take deep breaths and say to myself, "People before things and this too shall pass." Over and Over and Over again until I feel better. But otherwise we just try to stay in a rhythm that ebbs and flows.
Sometimes Mondays take a while to get going, but once they do, its all go, go, love this wee creation, cheers Marie
What a sweet little creation!
Today I'm just taking it easy - hoping to preempt any meltdowns. ;)
That's awfully cute! I must admit to being a fan of Mondays, I'm weird like that. :-)
We were having meltdown Monday light today...as in, not as bad as usual meltdowns. Our kiddos have been been on CA time, two hours off, for the last week, and today was camp for our oldest so we all had to get up earlier than usual (plus I got up at 5am for workout class...mighty tired). It made for a little bit cranky kiddos, but the oldest had a blast at camp, and the peace made the day a little easier for the youngest so we're making it. Slowing down, taking it easy and not trying to get too much done seems to really help the meltdown days.
We had a literal Meltdown Monday today -- the a/c is out and it's in the 90s. We preempted any morale meltdowns by going to Dairy Queen as a special treat after lunch to cool off.

This little doll would be a cute playmate for the tiny doll I made for Mercy recently. So cute!
This is so cute! !

Oh, and thanks for stopping by my blog, too!

My Monday was very calm, here vacations are over, but my kid had an extra day off, which was great after the birthday party, but today it was kind of my Monday, I already did a lot of things, errands, etc., but still had so much ahead...
I will like to participate with something from my Etsy shop, I will write you an email.
Oh, what a lovely giveaway! We'd love to welcome this sweet gnome into our home ! Thank you for the chance to win!

Melissa is my fave knitting gal! And my girls love her dolls...they'd love to have a mini-version to tote around in pockets and purses. And I'm happy to do a giveaway as well...not sure what might be of interest, so we'd have to figure that out (I do love a good bar of felted soap and have some new alpaca that is itching to be used).

So cute. I see all these darling things, and sometimes see great places outside... it all makes me want to play like a child again. Good thing for me, I have grandchildren to play with!
Oh I hope I'm not too late to enter! That is such a cute little knitted doll and I would be delighted to give it a home. With a first grandchild on the way, what better?
My Monday, let's see...

I am a SAHM to an almost two year old and am getting getting into the second trimester with number two. So Monday was an adjustment (as all mondays are) for DD and I that daddy is going back to work and we are on our own. Yes, there were meltdowns (mommy and DD) on Monday,
I love the spiky blue hair .
