Meltdown Monday Giveaway

Comments on this giveaway are now closed.

Welcome to Meltdown Monday! Today I bring you a giveaway from the ever sweet Cadi, who blogs at Chocolate Fishies. Let's jump right in and get to know Cadi!

This Cosy Life- Hi, Cadi, and welcome to Meltdown Monday! Tell us a little about yourself so we can know the person behind the work.Link

Cadi- I'm a single Mom to three children. Noah is 14, Nathan is almost 13 & Nuriel is 10 months old. Nuriel's father passed away just three weeks after we found out that I was pregnant & this journey through grief & healing is still shaping who I'm becoming. I'm also a Waldorf teacher. I will be teaching 4th grade this year & I have been with my students since they were in first grade. It's an exciting journey! I blog over at Chocolate Fishies.

This Cosy Life- What do you create and what are your favorite materials?

Cadi- I mostly knit & felt. My favorite material is wool. I do consider myself a fiber snob. :-) Wool is such a fascinating fiber. It keeps you warm (even when wet) or cool. And how could you not love sheep? I had the wonderful opportunity to visit New Zealand two years ago & the images of sheep roaming the hills are still vivid in my mind.

This Cosy Life- What inspires your creations?

I like to knit things that are simple & functional. My felted creations are inspired by my background as a Waldorf educator. I like to create simple pieces that let the child's imagination soar. Even in Waldorf circles excess can be found. It's hard to not want all those beautiful toys for a child, but one or two beautiful dolls created with love are quite sufficient in my mind. I try to create things that can be used in more than one way, things that become heirlooms rather than "one of many."

This Cosy Life- How do you balance 'making' with mothering?

Cadi- I try to find some time for creating in the evenings. It helps me to unwind and to process the day. Obviously, this is not always possible. My car insurer will be pleased to learn that I've stopped knitting at red lights, though. It was quite a habit when I lived in a big city, but I'm pleased to say I remained accident-free even during that time!

This Cosy Life- Thank you so much for for joining us for Meltdown Monday!

Cadi- Thank you for the opportunity. You know, Manic Monday is a favorite song of mine, but I sure hope this Monday is free of mania & meltdowns for everyone! :-)

Cadi is is offering this lovely Mother Earth figure to one of my readers. Wouldn't she look perfect on a Seasonal table?
Mother Earth is about 10" tall. She was needle-felted. She wears a hooded cape that was knitted from a 100% merino sock yarn. It closes with a little gemstone bead. She also wears a felted apron. She is not intended for play as some pieces may pose a choking hazard.

OK, so to enter leave me a comment. You can let me know how your Monday is going or, better yet, tell me how you beat the dreadful Meltdown Monday or just say hi. Whatever.
